The beloved ‘Friends’ television sitcom just celebrated its 25th Anniversary and replicas of thair famous ‘Central Perk’ orange couch are popping all over NYC. Some of the couches are free and open to the public while others will require you to buy a ticket.
Friends Pop-up
First to arrive at the city was the couch at the Friends pop-up, in a high detailed replication of the original Central Perk. To seat on this couch, you’ll have to buy a ticket ($30) for the entire ‘Friends’ experience. The ‘Friends’ pop-up will be available through October 6, 2019.
Taglialatella Galleries
Second Central Perk couch arrived at Taglialatella Galleries, at 229 10th Ave. This one came as part of ‘The Art of Friends’ by Burton Morris. This is a solo exhibition celebrating Morris’s paintings that have been seen throughout the years on the walls of the Central Perk coffee shop. Seating on this couch is completely free and you are welcome to visit during the gallery’s opening hours. This exhibit will be available through October 16, 2019.
Empire State Building
For two days only, September 21-22, 2019, the Empire State Building (ESB) had that famous ‘Friends’ couch on its 86th observatory deck. The orange couch was a perfect match with the blue sky and the Manhatten skyline. Seating on this couch was included in the basic ESB observatory ticket (~$40)
