I’ve lived in the city for almost 6 years now and only recently I came across this cute little Houdini Museum. Located on the 4th floor of a random building (213 W 35th Street) on the corner of 35th street and 7th Avenue, this museum is not visible from the street level, so in order to visit you first have to know it’s there.
The museum is only one room, but it is a well-designed one with the world’s largest Houdini collection and it’s free to visit during the opening hours. With the museum, you’ll also find the small Fantasma Magic Shop and there you’ll find magicians that will demonstrate some cool magic tricks or guide you, for a $10 fee, through the museum.
Today I visited the place for the first time. I met the lovely Linda who showed us one of her favorites magic tricks in the live video attached to this post.
