Lucy’s Delicatessen on 6th

|

A new and very unusual deli opened recently on 6th Avenue. There, you can find different types of cheese, tin cans, vegetables, fruits, and even little sushi rolls, but none of them are eatable, as they are all made of felt. Each item is unique, they are all handmade, limited editions signed art pieces by the contemporary British artist, Lucy Sparrow. It took Lucy a little less than a year to put everything together and open this store.

‘Lucy’s Delicatessen‘ is located on 49th Street and 6th Avenue. It is easy to find, as there is a long line of people outside the store waiting to get in. Some items are very rare, only one piece was made (like the octopus or the giant crab) while some, like the strawberries, are part of a bigger batch. Thus, if you want to have more options for your Christmas gifts, you better visit the store sooner rather than later. Also, if you buy one of these lovely art pieces, make sure they are signed. If you found one that was forgotten, you should ask Lucy to sign it for you on the spot.

Visiting the store is completely free. The store will stay in the city until October 21, 2019, and it is open daily from 11 am to 8 pm. This installation is part of the ‘Art in Focus’ public art program at Rockefeller Center, presented in partnership with the nonprofit Art Production Fund.
