Not All Heroes Wear Capes

|

At the end of March 2020, New York City became the epicenter of coronavirus. The city went into a lockdown but the health care workers, essential employees, and first responders went out every day to do their jobs while risking their lives and the quickly became our new heroes.

New Yorkers and people from all over the world found unique ways to show support and appreciation to our heroes from donations, to murals and thank you billboards. New Yorkers are also going out to their windows and balconies every evening at 7 pm and make some noise during our traditional #ClapBecauseWeCare. This is a heartwarming event I’ve been sharing with you live on my Facebook page, every day since the end of March 2020.

Another way of showing support to our new heroes was with plains and jets flying over NYC. To date, the most impressive flyover was on April 28, 2020 of the jets from the Navy’s Blue Angels and the Air Force’s Thunderbirds.

From my balcony we could see and document the 6 jets flying over the new observatory deck of the edge. I got a lot of questions about the people who appear on the photo standing on the observation deck and watching the jets from this perfect viewpoint. While the Edge observation deck was still officially closed to the public, I’m pretty sure some of the Edge employees and family members are the ones we see in this photo.
