Rockefeller Christmas Tree

|

The Rockefeller Christmas Tree arrived on November 13, 2021, and was lit for the first time on December 1, 2021. The tree is 85 years old,79 feet tall, and 46 feet wide Norway Spruce. The tree was donated by the Price family from Elkton, Maryland. The tree preparation process took several weeks during which it was decorated with more than 50,000 multi-colored LEDs on approximately 5 miles (8 km) of wire. Last year they also found a tiny owl inside the tree, after 3 days with no food or water. That owl was taken to the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center and was successfully released back to the wild.

The 89th Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony took place on Wednesday, December 12, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m., 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY. Last year, due to the pandemic, there was no public access to the tree lighting ceremony. This year public was invited to view the live national broadcast “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” in person from the Plaza. I shared the tree arrival, preparation, and lighting ceremony on my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok.
